It is Company policy to achieve a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation which is committed to the prevention of injuries and ill health of our employees, subcontractors and others who may be affected by our work activities and to prevent any damage or loss to property and equipment.

Organisation and Responsibility

The Health and Safety Management Team consists of the Company H&S Manager, Michelle Jones and an Operations H&S Manager, Arthur Lander who both currently hold Graduate Membership to the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and are working towards Chartered Membership. The Health and Safety Management Team report to the Mechanical Divisional Director, Gary Smith.

Day to day operational matters are addressed by line management with support from the H&S management team.

Health and safety responsibilities of all personnel according to job function from Managing Director downwards are fully detailed within the Company SHE Policy document. Health and Safety is considered to be an integral part of all company operations and activities.

Arrangements

The arrangements for managing health and safety responsibilities are described within the SHE procedures and Company Regulations. An alphabetical cross reference for all health and safety topics is provided within the Company SHE Policy document.

Health and Safety Management System

The essential elements of the company health and safety management system are as follows:

 

  • Provision of transparent policy and procedures
  • Effective communication of safety documentation and information via Company intranet,"Health & Safety Matters" newsletter, employee briefings and training programme
  • Provision of a safe place of work
  • Provision of safe methods of work
  • Effective induction and ongoing training programme for all personnel
  • Safety inspections and audits programme
  • Performance based in-house safety award scheme
  • Effective accident reporting and investigation process
  • Management review linked to monitoring, targeting and SHE Action Plan.
  • Continuous improvement programme.
 

Safety Awards

Our commitment and record on Health and Safety Performance is demonstrated through our success in winning the 2007 RoSPA President's Award. This reflects the achievement of fourteen consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards for occupational health and safety over the period 1995 – 2008.
