In August 2003 Axima Building Services Limited were awarded the mechanical services installation for a new Data Centre/ Office/ Research laboratory complex for the Wellcome Trust.
Axima provided heating, air conditioning, process engineering, plumbing and refrigeration services.
Known as the Southfield Project, the development is an extension to the Genome Campus at Hinxton in Cambridgeshire, and will allow the Wellcome Trust to maintain their "cutting edge" post-genomics research programme.
The Genome Campus will be a world-class centre for research into genomics and bioinformatics attracting major international research and development companies.
The project comprises of research laboratories together with a data centre, administration buildings and sports facilities.
The Management Contractor for this project is Mace Limited, Consultants Faber Maunsell, Architects are NBBJ and the Quanity Surveyors Turner & Townsend.
The Construction programme started mid August 2003 and completed in May 2005 with an mechanical value of £7.5M.
This project award follows on from the successful completion by Axima Building Services Ltd of the first phase of the Genome Campus project in May 1996.
